The initial consultation is a mandatory first step for dogs displaying more complex or problematic behaviours. This session allows us to fully understand your dog, your household, and what’s really driving the behaviour, so we can put the right plan in place from the start.
This consultation is also your opportunity to ask questions, gain clarity, and decide whether I’m the right trainer for you and your dog before committing to ongoing 1:1 training.
I’ll come to your home and we’ll take the time to explore:
Your dog’s full history and daily routine
Current challenges and unwanted behaviours
What structure is, or isn’t, currently in place
Techniques or strategies you’ve already tried
Environmental, emotional, and lifestyle factors influencing behaviour
From there, we’ll discuss clear next steps and create a tailored training plan, including whether ongoing 1:1 sessions are needed, where those sessions will be most effective and what changes can be put in place straight away.
This approach means that when we move into training, we can get straight to work. Sessions are prepared, purposeful, and focused on real progress rather than guesswork or rushed conversations.
An initial consultation is recommended for:
Reactivity (dogs, people, environments)
Anxiety, fear, or stress-related behaviours
Resource guarding (food, toys, items)
Discomfort or stress around being handled or touched
More complex behaviour concerns
You’re unsure which training path to take and would like clear, professional guidance
